Orchid Glossary provides an alphabetical list of all the orchids we have described on this website.
  1. Abdominea
    There is only one species, known as Abdominea minimiflora, also known as Tiny-flowered Abdominea.

  2. Acacallis
    A genus of South American orchid comprising 6 species.

  3. Acampe
    A genus of epiphytic monopodial orchid found in Africa and Asia.

  4. Barbosella
    Single-flowered, creeping orchids comprising 20 species.

  5. Barbrodria
    A mini-miniature, creeping, mat forming epiphyte found growing the the rainforest in SE Brazil.

  6. Barkeria
    A genus of deciduous orchids native to Mexico.

  7. Caladenia
    A genus comprising 243 species of small to medium-sized orchids with underground tubers.

  8. Calanthe
    A genus of terrestrial orchids comprising some 170 species.

  9. Cypripedium
    Lady's Slipper Orchid comprising 47 species.

  10. Dactylorhiza
    Terrestrial orchids comprising 75 species and hundreds of hybrids.

  11. Dendrobium
    One of the most popular and easy to grow epiphytic orchids.

  12. Earina
    A genus of mostly epiphytic orchids found in New Zealand, New Caledonia, Tahiti, Samoa and Fiji.

  13. Epidendrum
    Large genus of epiphytic orchids comprising 1100 species, distributed in North and South America.

  14. Flickingeria
    A genus of flowering orchids comprising about 75 species found in tropical Asia and Australasia.

  15. Galeandra
    A genus of sympodial orchids comprising about 20 species from tropical America.

  16. Habenaria
    A genus of terrestrial orchies comprising 800 species.

  17. Isabelia
    Epiphytic orchids comprising three species and one natural hybrid native to northeast of Brazil to Argentina.

  18. Jumellea
    A genus of monopodial orchids which can be epiphytic or lithophytic native found in Africa, Madagascar and Grande Comore.

  19. Laelia
    Epiphytic orchid comprising about 11 species native to subtropical and temperate regions of Central America.

  20. Macodes
    A genus of creeping terrestrial orchids found in the rainforests of Southeast Asia.

  21. Neofinetia
    A genus of 3 species of orchids native to the Far East countries of China, Korea and Japan.

  22. Paphinia
    A genus of epiphytic orchids from South America.

  23. Phalaenopsis
    One of the most popular orchids, comprising about 60 species native throughout southeast Asia.

  24. Quekettia
    A small genus of orchids from northern South America.

  25. Restrepia
    A genus of epiphytic orchids distributed from southern Mexico to northern Argentina.

  26. Sarcochilus
    Sarcochilus.
    A genus of orchids found in Australia including Tasmania, and in New Caledonia.
  27. Thelymitra
    A genus of tuberous terrestrial orchids distributed from Australia to the Philippines.

  28. Vandopsis
    A genus of orchids found in Southeast Asia that could be terrestrial as well as lithophytic.

  29. Warmingia
    A small genus of orchids found in the rainforest of eastern Brazil.

  30. Zootrophion
    A genus of orchids distributed from Jamaica and Central America right to the Andes.
