Bartholina, Orchid

  About Tim & Esther

Bartholina is a genus of terrestrial orchids in the family Ochidaceae, comprising two species. The species are found from Southern Namibia to Eastern Cape. Bartholina is also known as Spider Orchid, in reference to the array of fine feather-like petals that surround the flower which look like the legs of spider. The genus Bartholina is named after Thomas Bartholin, a 17th century Danish scientist.
